My Ride: 95 M3 CAI, chipped, pulleys, Xbrace, doesn't give headaches every time I start up! 04 545i all the goodies INCLUDING HEADACHES!

I'm changing the fuel breather valve and thermostat that the dealer has diagnosed to be the problem causing the increased emissions check engine light to illuminate. Will the check engine light reset itself after the malfunctioning parts have been replaced or is it necessary to reset it through the software?

it will eventually. the computer has to see a no fault condition for 50 drive cycles. or you can go to autozone or advance and they can reset it

I tried autozone to reset for another problem and they didn't have the correct connector to hook up to the computer. I guess I'll try advanced next time.
