Check engine & code 29DA
I received a check engine tonight starting my car leaving a friends house. The car had a rough idle and was vibrating a lot. I got home and checked the code and it read 29DA. After looking up what the code was for it read out as, "Crankshaft sensor, segment adaptation". Anyone have any idea what this part is or has anyone experienced this? The only thing I can figure out by google is that it is engine related.

Googled a bit and found someone with a 335i that may have had the same issue, gonna look more into this and see if i can resolve it. First time I've personally seen this issue since I've been on the forum, hopefully it's a cheap fix.

Since it is crankshaft related, I'm starting to wonder if the problem may have arose due to the aftermarket (ebay) oil catch can that I have installed. I've heard oil catch cans can have negative impacts on the crankshaft, so maybe?

Judging by the number of replies on this list doubt it but anyone actually know where the crankshaft sensor is located on the n54 e60 engine lol, having trouble locating it.

I wish you well! I just ordered a cheap code reader on Amazon today. Got an annoying dash light a few days ago. Grrr!
