Changing wheels from 18" to 19"

I remember those threads! But unfortunately all OEM BMW wheels (except the new chrome offerings!) use the same coated/painted wheels. Curbing the wheels will result in that paint chipping off. I've never seen the 128 up close but I suspect it has the same coating...

Sorry, can't read every post on the forums. While I do sympathize, you are the only reported case I know (and that has always been my qualifier, "that I recall"). I am sure there are others but if there are, they are not widely reported, either on this forum or others. As Howitzer realized, he was remembering a spate of cracked and bent 124's from some time back.

As long as you use recommended tire sizes, the sidewall will get thinner and thinner when the diameter of the wheel itself increases. The overall diameter of the wheel+tire will remain the same, so you will not have rubbing issues and the wheel gap remains the same. Only if you get wheels with the wrong offsets, you may have rubbing even with the correct sized tires.

The right tire size for 128s' would be:
- 245/35 R19 for front (and rear)
- 275/30 R19 for rear with staggered setup

I don't know, but if you can choose, please DON'T get the runflats in 19".

You can put non-run flats on any OEM BMW rim. They are all made with a special inner lip for the run flats they are not required...

Two of my 172s had slight bends after one season of use. I got em fixed at the Wheel Repair Shop and they are as good as new. I expect some bending in my wheels because I am always driving around New York City, which is pothole central.

The strongest OEM wheels I've ever had were the 19s on my Infiniti M45 Sport. Those suckers hit some massive potholes but never bend.
