I just purchased a 525xi. It has the 10 speaker option. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how much I would miss having a dedicated subwoofer. It is too late to order the 13 speaker configuration. I really don't want to make major modifications to the system, but I was wondering if anyboy has tried changing the speakers that apparently under the front seats to improve the bass response in the car.

I was a little surprised that the speaker system in my stock RX300 (does not have the premium sound system that Lexus offered) that is 7 years old has more bass response that the 525.

It is probably worthwhile to discuss the impact of changing out other speakers as part of this discussion.

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to see if anyone has managed to improved the standard sound system (i.e. the 10 speaker jobbie) without much luck.

 

I'm surprised anyone would want to change the HiFi (10 speaker) system. I paid an extra ?355 to get it. My last Std (6 speaker) system was, IMHO, very basic and without any bass. The HiFi has a lot more bass and sound quality. I'd say there are much better systems on the market that'll make your ears bleed. But ? for ? Hifi is gonna be hard to beat.
