I tried posting this on the DIY section and got no resp. I thought I may try here to....so here it goes
I am trying to install a new region of the bmw software in my car. I will be taking my vehicle to China and want to use the I-drive and Navigation there in Chinese.
Any insight on how to go about this?
I have all the tools (coding cables and etc) available to me (even the ones bmw have too, my friend who is a tech is not positive what to do with them),
Right now I am located in the US (NY)
A t current:
I have been scouring (what feels like) the entire internet (its been a few weeks since embarking). And I have so far come to the conclusion of two things
1. I know this is possible there is one person that can do it and made it his little trade secret
2. Guys at bmw wont touch my car with a mile long stick. (I think I may be able to code better than them)
So alas I have turned to posting for help, any help would really be appreciated
thank you in advance
p.s. once I am done I will be writing up a how-to for everyone so they don't have to go through this

I'm not sure, but iDrive may need recoding. For NAV all you need is the correct DVD (assuming you have CCC).
When I lived in Germany, I discovered there were at least two different NAV DVD's: One had English, French and Spanish, but no German. If I wanted German I had to purchase a different DVD. Hope this helps.
