Changing Brand Loyalty from BMW to Audi
I've been with an Audi A4 Avant '98 for the past 7 years and 340.000km (had already done 107.000km when I got it). Now looking at getting an E60 520d 2008-2010 as a more comfortable ride for the 200km drive to and from work.
But in 3-4 years I might be looking at an A5 instead of the F10. I compared the E60 last year with MB E-class, Audi A4, A5, A6 and VW Passat CC and the E60 just seems like a more complete package than the others.
The A5 came a close second and definitely has the best exterior look of the bunch but looses to the E60 on the interior.

I've owned 3 BMW's and believe me the 545i which I still own has had plenty of visits to the service department. Even so, I enjoy German cars and will put up with that inconvenience to be able to drive some of the finer cars in the world. The same holds true for my 2004 545i. I'm sure today's 550i is a lot better car quality-wise than mine! Technology advances quickly.
I think Audi has been working on quality improvements, similar to VW. They both have come a long way over the past few years.
Rollin' the dice....

my 2005 545i is history too...
i'm getting rid of mine and getting an S5. i don't trust my bmw. i know it will be nothing but trouble when it hits the 50K mark. has 36k on it now. never have felt ok about it, call it paranoia, but i just can't seem to feel any confidence building vibes from it. the more i read this forum the more i don't like my bmw. just found out (on this forum btw) that it does not have a LSD.....wtf? 60k for a car and no LSD?
the i-drive and radio have memory issues already. and that valvtronic crap really bothers me too, don't like the way it works, and it will surely wear out much sooner than a conventional valve train. mine has a 6MT, and when i back out of the garage in the morning i cannot find any combo of throttle/clutch that will keep the engine from revving up and down, up and down.... between 500 and 1000 rpm....has to be a result of valvtronic hooey!
just waiting to see oil leaking from my valve covers and vacuum pump. not looking forward to changing the water pump at 50K either. even the water pumps way back in the 60's lasted longer than that! a water pump should last 100K at least...unreal!!!
see ya bmw...
quattro here i come!
