Well after three consecutive BMW's I've decided to give Audi a try. I began my BMW journey with a 330i. When the lease was up I went to an E46 M3 lease. When the lease was up on that I purchased a CPO '04 545i. I just turned 120K miles on the 5-series and decided to start looking. I'm handing down the 545 to my college son.

I didn't want another 5-series, the 7-series was too big and I don't feel I'm old enough yet for the 7! ha I like the new M3 but I'm tired of the tire change for winter driving, which I have with the 5, and the mpg on the new M3 is awful.

I decided to go with the new Audi S4. It's a bit larger than the 3-series but not as big as the 5. I think the interior is much nicer than the current BMW's except the M3, which I like as well. The new supercharged engine has 333 hp and 325 lb ft of torque with an estimated 28mpg highway. I ordered the S4 with Nappa, Navi, B&O stereo, Sport Diff., S-tronic with an MSRP of $54630. The cost after negotiating was $51,800 which is quite a bit less than a similar equipped 335xi.

I took a 3 year lease on the S4 so I have an out if I'm not pleased or another BMW is desired in 2013. I've enjoyed the ride with BMW but I took the exit ramp at the Audi dealership.

Congrats on the new S4 - it's a tremendous car. Audi is releasing some excellent product these days, I think their exterior design is strong and I still think they have a significant lead in interior design and quality compared to the other premium German brands. Enjoy the S4! It's a great alternative to a 335xi.

Congrats on your new purchase. BMW's better take notice of these departures and listen to what their customers really want, if they don't want to became the GM of Germany.

I actually emailed the BMWNA guy back that was giving me a gift credit at the BMW lifestyle online catalogue. I told him that the car is going back to the shop this week, after i just got it back last week (HPFP AGAIN!) and told him to please send me an Audi or Porsche gift certificate. i should post the letter on here... dont want to thread jack too much though.

Yeah, we're a German car family. My boys have VW's, my wife a MB, and I also have a 911. It's a little funny leaving BMW but I agree they need to realize that the competition has stepped up their game.

I never liked the Audi for me its BMW or Mercedes... Its a b!tch to sell here in Russia, Moscow people always look towards BMW or MB you have to find some Audi enthusiast to sell it... but you leasing yours its a diff story for you any how enjoy new and be happy see you come back

The S4 is a sharp looking car and I agree that Audis have the nicest interiors of just about any car made today. I don't see myself going over to Audi or MB as BMW still is tops in sedan handling IMHO but that's just where my number 1 priority is.

What the OP discusses in his switch to Audi and the title of the thread are non sequitur ... this isn't about loyalty to BMW or now to Audi. Loyalty isn't the issue, it's boredom with what is, and searching for something new. There'll be no loyalty to Audi in a few years either, it's just Diversity!

Good luck with the S4,

Cal

Congrats! The S4 is a beautiful car

With the line up that Audi currently has, I'll give them a serious consideration when it's time for a new car.
