When I had the E46 I test drove the 8 cyl S4. It was crazy nose heavy and didn't compare with the M3. The new S4 is much better balanced (55:45) front to rear. It felt kind of light on it's feet even though it weighs 3700+ lbs. The 8 cyl S4 was a gas hog as well.
The S4 is scheduled to arrive in March.

I am NOT a fan of the new F01 or the F10 styling as I think BMW is moving towards an old-man look like Buick did for years. Audi is definitely modern and stylish. While I'm sure the F10 will look great with an M-tech, the Audi looks good without "a kit".

Items replaced over time include: iDrive Computer, radiator electric cooling fan, coolant temp. sensor & vent hose, numerous window motors (common BMW issue), and cup holder mechanism. I have driven 80k+ miles during this time. Engine & trans have been excellent. The car still runs solid and everything works as new. I truly loved this car but I'm ready for a change.
The trade in value is only $11K so another reason to keep it in the family.

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
I have friends that went from MB or BMW to Audi for one car and then came back to MB and BMW. I know friends that have had many BMW or MB in a row but none that have had consecutive Audi cars.

What is it with the subtle and not-so-subtle digs and backhanded compliments any time someone has the temerity to buy a car other than a BMW?
I swear some of you would be less offended if the members who buy another brand had asked to borrow money or if they could sleep with your wives rather than tell you about their new cars...

What the OP discusses in his switch to Audi and the title of the thread are non sequitur ... this isn't about loyalty to BMW or now to Audi. Loyalty isn't the issue, it's boredom with what is, and searching for something new. There'll be no loyalty to Audi in a few years either, it's just Diversity!

I know some people that work at Audi in Ingolstadt and they say there are big ambitions to become number one in each of the classes over the next year or two. They don't want to be in 3rd place.
