Changing All Season Mats to Carpeted

For those of you that switch back and forth, what do you do with the hooks the hold the all season mats in place? They seem permanet and of course, the carpet mats won't sit right since the hooks are in the way. What am I missing?

You twist them about 90 degrees and the hooks pull up/out. Then, reverse the procedure for the circular velcro holders to insert--might need to use a coin in the little slot.
