Can somebody please tell me, how many so called "chimes" are there? The resaon for my question is as follows:
I hit a small piece of wood on the highway while doing about 70 mph. It was a little "thump" and that was that. But 3-4 days later when washing my car I noticed a crack in the front bumper. So, the next day I take it to be fixed thinking it should not be more than $100.00. My estimate ..............$958.00 for a new bumper, a driver side fog light (cracked housing), etc. I was pissed but &$%# happens and I went ahead with the repairs but ever since I can swear that the Central Locking Chime is half as loud as it used to be and is barely audible when I am standing in front of the car. I am thinking during the front bumper repairs somehow I lost a "chime". Is there more than 1 "chime" ( one in the front and one in the back) or is it my imagination??

Man that really sucks (the repair cost). I know my locking chirp is pretty loud, definitely you can hear it within 50 feet or so of the car.

I think you might be imagining things. The reason I say that is that the "chime" you refer to is really the alarm siren muted. The alarm siren is located in the rear of the car so it's unlikely that any of the work done on the front would affect the volume of the lock/unlock chirp.
Take a look at the following .pdf in the technical section of the gallery to learn all about the alarm and locking chirps:
