Help and advise please:
My '05 e61 seems reluctant to open and shut using the remote control fob. But annoyingly it is very intermittent. I can still lock and unlock the car on the key, but the alarm goes of when I open the door if I do it this way until I put the key in ignition. I have tried it with both keys, which I keep charged by swamping them around on regular intervals and no difference.
Any advice or guidance on what this could be before I enter the murky world of dealers would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers

on my 04 530d i have exactly the same problem, im not sure if its the transponder in the key (strange that its both keys) or more likely its the charging unit in the car...is this connected to the ignition barrel?
the ariel/sender for the unlocking is located on the rear window (top right corner)
looks like im in to BMW to get this fixed also (failing this ..an aftermarket alarm, that would opperate the central locking from a fob..such as clifford et al)

i have sorted this problem now.....
when i went to "barrons BMW" in farnborough hampshire, i was told that when this happens on E60's it normally means that the main battery is on its way out.
now i dismissed this advise as the battery seemed fine (always spun over fine) but the technition said it is an early warning indication by BMW that its on its way out...that was 4 weeks ago...and yesterday the battery was dead...totally dead....so bought a new one, and after 10 miles or so (of charging) the key and alarm started working perfectly...so prehaps he was right.....you might want to check your battery.....worked for me?
