Hi all. I have the CD changer option and I assume it's enabled as I can see the red optical light in the glovebox glowing nicely. I'm about to get a Dension 500S BT and wondered if once fitted I need to have the car told it now has an ipod interface as oppossed to the CDC.
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I recently fitted a Dension 500 to my 2008 520D. My car came with the cd option fitted too. I beleive this is common with all B.M.W.'s. I bought a used CD changer off eBay and went to an indy to have it fitted. The actual wiring connection for cd is located behind the removable panel to the rear right hand side of the glove box. It is just a power supply and optic cable wrapped up with black cloth tape. The other connection which I believe you see is used for diagnostic use. I had to get a specific cd fitting kit from the main dealer to enable the cd changer to be connected. Apparantly it's not a major job, when you know what your doing!! I also had to get the car coded to recognise the cd changer. After a month my kids decided they hadn't near enough music fron six cd's so I decided to get the Dension 500. it was pretty straight forward to swap out the cd changer for the Dension. I could have kept both but thought there was no need. I now have an endles supply of songs via an iPod that is charged by the Dension. I hope my comments are fully accurate but that's how it worked out for me. I paid E30 to ave coding done for cd changer and alarm chirp.
