That's the way it works for me. I get names for audio CD's in the single slot. As I recall, I get garbaged names when playing MP3s--which I found to be a waste of what's left of my still pretty decent hearing.

Hmm, I get nice full album and song title names on my CDs and DVD (including DL) for my MP3s. May be the way your burning them. Thought I had a pic laying about but could not find it. I'll take some soon, but still with proper encoding, you should see readable song titles.
There doesn't appear to be enough space for full album and title info on the line shown in the OP's pic (unless it scrolls).
CD Player MP3 displays the first (20?) characters of the filename so depending on the filename that's what you get.
For me NO display of anything on CD changer (well, track number...).
You're saying you get text info on the CD changer?

I don't quite remember what was there--with the MP3s.. It wasn't exactly garbage. It was more like ugly song titles. I am going to try some more MP3s one day when I find the time. The MP3 project is way down on my list of projects.
I get NO TEXT with a CD in the single drive or in the changer.
Asked my dealer as I see CD text in my colleagues 04 530d - his response "If the track name is showing, I guess it's because he's playing an MP3 file. They can go in the slot or the changer. Burn them on your PC and enjoy."
He was definitely playing a CD, not MP3's.
I did try burning an MP3 CD and sure enough, I get artist and track title displayed.
But I want my CD Text !!!!
