Guys n Gals,

Need some help here?

I was in a parking lot dropping some cloths off at the dry cleaners.

I hop in the car and drop it into Reverse. I start hearing my sensors going off (beepx2) all of a sudden beepx10) *bam* she hits me.

Its minor damage, (left part of my rear bumper is dented). She admits to fault and we exchange information. I called my insurance company. They told me that an adjuster will be coming out to check out the damage.

My question is: can they fix the bumper or will they have to replace it. I know that you can't bondo plastic or can you

Also if they replace the bumper, I wonder if can opt for the Mtech kit. I'll pay the difference for the front and side skirts?

Any Insights.

Sorry to hear that... Any pictures would be nice to see how big the damage is.

And if you want to get the Mtech bumper you need to be with nicke60gr. He did just the same like you are thinking about...

When I had damage on my bumber from being side swiped, it had to be replaced. Not a problem though, paint matched perfectly and you could not tell it was not the original bumber. Good luck.

Well it really depends on the extend of the damage, but the bumper is plastic after all and you can't fix it if it is damage (like cracked)

I am sure you can opt for the M-tech kit if you are willing to pay the difference and I think your dealer (assuming you are taking it back for repair) will have the answer.

Is the stock kit the same price as the M-tech Kit?

I don't think so.

The front at least as you need a new set of foglights which is the most expensive part.

insurance companies are only responsible to replace the exact damaged part in the accident

so you dont get anything more than how your car was before the accident

there are exceptions tho...... if you know someone in the shop and they will BS the damage for you ........ (umm, bumper needs to be replaced, the trunk frame is bent, the suspension was................. blah blah)

good luck

Plastic bumpers are repairable. They use a soft gel body filler that remains flexible after it sets, then they sand it and repaint it. The insurance company will decide how to repair it.

There are special bumper fixing shops out there.. maybe try looking in the yellowpages to find a shop near your house.
