I thought I put everything right. Labels facing up, proper slots.. But its stuck and won't come out.

Mine worked fine when I took delivery in Munich. Then I had the same problem when I tooked delivery in the US. They know about it. Call your dealer and make sure they have one in stock and they will change it out under warranty.

welcome aboard, ilyam5 ! this happened to me couple times in my previous e39. i tried couple things. first turn off the power of the radio/cd. then try to press the eject button again. if still not working, turn off the car and press the eject button. and if still not working, restart the car, wait a few seconds, press the eject button again. if all don't work, take it to your dealer. good luck .

I had this happen once in my '98 e39. I tried all the various things possible to re-set it, but nothing worked. I finally took it out (easy - probably not for glove box mounted version) and took the case off it (also easy). I then very carefully cycled the disk loading mechanism by hand, got the CD out and got it going again. Nothing appeared to be wrong with it, so I just put it back. I was afraid it would occur again, but it hasn't.
