Howdy Fellas - OK so I have a 04 530I and would like to install the CD changer. I've seen it for sale on the internet for about $450 U.S. (noticed a lot of you guys talkin metric and bars and stuff). Its advertised as "plug and play". I'm skeptical - can I do this without having to bother with the dealer? Anyone out there have experience? Thanks! P.S. the dealer wants about $1000 U.S. to sell/install!

If you didn't have CD changer before, you will definitely need to program it at the dealer. But after you have CD Changer installed before, changing it to the iPOD INTERFACE won't need programming, as far as I understand.

I think changers are antiques . . . though I use mine because the car won't play mp3. I would try to be mp3 enabled or ipod first before attempting a cd changer unless the prior is to expensive. But even for $450, I still think that's too expensive.
