2 Weeks ago the service indicator dropped to 800 miles for the Microfilters, so I booked it in.
It continued to drop until it got to 200 miles 3 days before the service date.
The next day it was up to 1800 miles for them !!!
WTF?
The SA just raised an eyebrow when I mentioned it.
Got the impression they are used to it playing silly beggers.

I've had similar experiences with mine running down to 6,000km and then all the way back up to 9,000km on the microfilter. It did that jump up after my Amsterdam-Milan-amsterdam road trip this summer. It's back down to 4,000km now. The service guys at my dealership looked over all the CBS readings and proposed I book the car in after running another 8k or so. Apparently they too are used to this finickyness.

But I have been warned about it (where, I do remember) that the same can happen with the brake pads.
Usually one just has to wait a week or so for it to stabilize.
PS. Using ones own brain is also good achievement, but does anyone do it anymore?

Have noticed the exact same feature with the mircofilter.

Hmm, my front pads are showing 7000 miles, so will be getting low around when I drive to the Austrian Alps in March.
Hope they come up for replacement before them, would not like to have this 'variability' with a 2000 mile high spped jaunt ahead of me!

I just got a quote from my dealer, ?290 for the front pads, incl labor and taxes.
I think it's a little expensive for a one-hour job..
