Default Car will not turnover HELP !!

Hi all

I hope someone maybe able to help me, I have a 2005 e60 525i touring and it will not turn over and I have the following errors that ping up,

Transmission fault
ABS fault
Number plate bulb fault
Seatbelt fault
Cruise control fault
PDC fault

I can’t get my car to my mechanic to use his diagnostic machine until next week but I’m just trying to eliminate some possibilities, so far I have checked the DME and all is good (no water damage) , I have also checked all the relays under to pollen filter (where DME is located), New battery but this does seem to drain over a couple of days.

Any help will be most appreciated

If the battery is draining over a couple of days then a simple thing you could try is to see if you can get hands on another battery that has a good charge and replace it to see if it will turn over. I've seen many cases in which a low battery charge has caused many things to trip on the car.

Thanks for the reply Neal, the battery was new but still loosing charge not sure if something is still running whilst in sleep mode, even if the battery wasn't fully charged shouldn't it still try and crank over when you start it ?

If your car has "IBS" which I'm not clearly sure what is but you might wanna try to un plug that near battery I believe as many people have a issue with running even when the vehicle off/in sleep mode

Your battery might still have some juice but then again bmw's are pretty thirsty due to all the components.. Again I think trying a different battery is a great place to start as DIY rather then going to the stealership and then end up it being the battery

If you need help finding the IBS I Believe there is a video I can find it for you if you are unable to locate it

Srry for any mis spells Sent from my iPhone

Try to jump start it .. take the battery out ,,charge it and get it checked . Ruling the battery out is first on the list. Then second is to check the starter ,, third is fuel to the rail, then spark to the plugs...

If the battery is new then that is probably not the problem.

Since the battery is draining slowly then you have a parasitic electrical drain somewhere. You need to find the source of the current draw and solve that problem.

This is a really good tutorial on how to find a parasitic draw: Finding a parasitic draw- garagejournal.com

Thanks for your help, the issue is now sorted turns out to be the IBS sensor !! disconnected it and the car started up straight away.

Hmm , interesting first time I ever heard of a IBS cable not allowing the car to start . Thought it only drains the battery . Was your battery fully charged when the car didn't start and you disconnected the IBS ? Also did you plug it back in and did u get a no start ?
