Ha Ha!
Biometrics is my business & you just raised the #1 most FAQ.

We do for example, have fake & dead finger detection capabilities in our systems, but the concern is still that the criminals will still be stupid enough to try

GPS tracking is very easy to disable, they just duck tape a leaf of lead on the antenna.?

Yep, that's why those systems are not factory options. A thief then knows where the device is and how to disable it.
But if you install it aftermarket, he doesn't know it's there and how it looks and where it is, so he can't disable it!

had our two BMW's(530 and 320 Conv) stolen couple years back from our drive.... boke in house... got keys and off!!! luckily (or not - depends how you view how desperate they are for your cars) we were not home. Just for the record - got the 5 series back but conv was found 1 1/2 years later in southern spain!!

since then new cars are now trackered (GPS satelite), house is more securely alarmed and have a telescopic post on the drive - and probably the best of the lot nice german shepherd!!!

there is one in Uk they CANNOT not even if they put it in low garage in alu truck wagon etc.. globetroter or tracer I will have a look.

In Belgium they invented-no kidding- a system works w fingerprints you can set more people -like wife friend kids-and!! also set speed limits will have a look who does it here but it is true it works, even if they get you by the red light if the door is opened and closed again it is activated.

Sorry about your ordeal. I have a friend who has a special alarm that requires the driver to press a certain button in the car (could be a volume, window, sunroof....) the installing company decides which button at the end of installation. Anyway, you start the car with your key and then at a random time a beep goes off and if you don't press the required button (more than once, but randomly decided by installer). The car stops and if there is a NAV system, it will be turned on for tracking.

Just to let you know, the guy drives a new Porsche 911 Turbo and has been car-jacked 4 times with a 100% recovery rate. He is so confident that he basically gives his key. I'm convinced.

How come nobody said "welcome" to arta-bmw57? Anyway, welcome.

I am with the people who leave the keys downstairs. If they are in my house (with the alarm screaming hopefully), by all means take the F&#@in car. I'll be upstairs behind a door with a baseball bat and if they come looking for me, they are going to get my power swing in the chops.

Around here, I think most car thieves could not be considered "professionals". Most are either kids wanting to joyride or losers wanting getaway cars for stealing things. Either way they tend to take easier marks than BMWs - not that it never happens.

nope man a world invention 1st is here in BE the car only starts for those who are set by the owner in the system and it checks the blood circulation... so if they cut down the fingers it still will not start

Move to a better neighborhood, maybe?

That sort of thing never happens here. I don't even lock my house.

For great car security, you can always disable the interior motion sensor and leave a Rottweiler in the car. Seems to be effective, but you must leave the sunroof open and water and food. Don't forget a 'wee pad' on the backseat to avoid ugly messes...It's a great deterrent.

It would be better to keep a snake in the car...
