Be aware of what other members are telling you to do. I've seen some new members here with no credibility or experience (I can tell from posts) giving advice. Each BMW is different. You have an LCI and different engine than me for example.
Did you check the coils to see if you have an issue with them? Perhaps they're not performing at 100%. You do not need OEM plugs or coils. Personally I go with Bosch Platinum +4 and they run about $6 each and have 5 yr warranty. They are an OEM item.
You may start having issues with the pulse sensor on this engine. There are 2.
You may start having Mass Air Flow Sensor issues.
You may start having carbon build up
You may be starting to develop a vacuum leak and will have to trace it out with smoke.
It's hard to tell but if you don't have error codes on the car then it could very well be a vacuum leak.

When I worked on this engine, there was a stupid little sensor inside the valve cover and it was a 10 hour job. i replaced the valve cover gasket in the meantime because it was a pain in the arse and it was a $300 sensor. I am glad I have an M54

Did it start shaking after the spark plug change? Maybe one of the ignition coils was not put in properly. Mine did that when one of the ignition coils was going bad.

It was shaking before I replace them. I was hopping by changing them it was going to solve it, but it didn't. I did not replace the coils they look fine to me and didn't want to spend $250.00 just to find out.
Does any of you think that the rough iddle and shake can go away by changing the coils?
Please advise.
Thanks

Is there such tool that I can buy myself and test it? Can there be erros in the system without having any check engine lights? Please advice.
