How old are you? Do you have kids? What type of car are you looking for? Do you want a sports car or a sedan?
I'm 29 yrs old, no kids and already have the Nissan Altima. I just want a car that I'm going to have fun in, that's agile and nimble. That's why I would get the M3 over M5 any day of the week because the M5 is just a family sedan that is fast whereas the M3 is just a fun sports car to drive.
Shrug, you can't go wrong with either IMHO.

M-DCT > SMG for a DD IMO, not to mention mpg's...all around fun car and functional DD goes to the M3 IMO...but I may be biased (see sig
)...
have you looked into an E90 M3 vs E92 M2. The e90 M3 is slightly smaller in the back seat, more noticeable less space in the trunk, but if neither of those 2 are factors, an e90 m3 might be worth a looking into. Hopefully the e92 m3 you are looking at has all the updated software as earlier M-DCT models were buggy and needed some tweeking. EDC is a must with an M3 that is planned for DD...comfort mode for DD and normal or sport for spirited driving. Not too many e92 M3's with a sunroof, most opt for the CF roof, so if that is your preference you're definitely lucky finding one with a sunroof..
GL with your decision..

M3. Add a JBL MS-8 to the sound system and you won't miss the logic7, trust me. I helped a friend install it in a 335is a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at what I was hearing withouth upgrading the OEM speakers.

its monday....and im still torn.
this is how i feel: the M3 is fucking rocket ship....tons of fun and the DCT transmission will make you smile from ear to ear everytime you start her up...
the M5: very similar to my old car but better in every way possible. the interior is so nice....full extended leather, heads-up-display, soft touch doors, heated steering wheel, lighted paddle shifters, not to mention whenever i hear the M5 with the Meisterschaft exhaust it brings watery tears to my eyes....so that would definitely be my first mod...
so torn!
what will have the better resale value 5 years from now? anyone have a fact based opinion on that? Thanks!
