Then go get your car, and take it someplace else.

They’re saying if I did any mods to anything with software or whatever. NOW they find out after diagnosing? Weird.

Shouldn’t make a difference.

Seems like they're throwing darts at a dartboard, in the dark. If my indy mechanic did such actions, he would never see me again, that's for sure.

It gives the dealership an out. At this point you're either willing to spend $$$$ to have them continue or pick your car up and figure out the next step. They will find any reason to put the ball back in your court. There's no way after 2 weeks they just magically found out they couldn't talk to a module. They do a scan when you first come in with a complaint and if they didn't what the hell have they been doing for 2 weeks.

You do have an issue with the wiring and it needs to be fixed but I can tell you this it has nothing to do with updating but they will say it did and it failed so they can mark that off the list as a problem and not have to foot the bill. Dealerships will try anything if they don't know that's why it is a waist of time to have them work on your car.

Of course if you sign on the dotted line, its at your expense, and then they're not even sure it will fix the problem. Please be done with those guys.

Is this all dealers? I've got an e60 535i with 85k i bought used and fortunately never had a need or desire to bring it to the stealership. Where are these clowns located so i/we can beware.

I've been lucky to come across a couple good dealerships but the problem is the good techs don't stay long because they make more money opening there own shops. It believe this is happening in Australia.

So I think they found the problem. Actually went into the workshop and they explained everything. PCV Valve crankcase breather. They sprayed some stuff on it and stopped the rough idling.

Excellent, glad to hear that. However i would of thought that would be one of the first things they check along with the CCV. Let's hope that works maybe it'll help others as well.
