I'd have been like, it's either the key or the car. And if I replaced the key and it's still messed up, just replace the car

I had the same problem. Key only working close to the car. Ordered a new one and still didnt work..My rear glass was replaced so i checked the diversity amplifier antenna everyones talking about and sure enough it was unplugged..Pushed it back in place and it works like new. Mine was located on the right side rear on top of the headliner. Goodluck.
