Does anyone know if there are software upgrades specific to SMG transmissions as opposed to the Idrive system? My service advisor is telling me my car is held up at the Port Hueneme VPC for a SMG software upgrade. It's killing me. It's been there since December 15. Any information would help me stand the wait.

My guess is it isn't re-programming your SMG that is holding them up. The VPC in Hueneme/Oxnard is apparently backed-up. See http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=5680 . I don't think anyone is getting a straight answer out of them about when cars will be delivered or what the real reasons are for the delays. I've had two dates given to me and still no car. Given what these cars cost, there is no excuse.
