My car didn't come with the owner's manual, so I've had to learn how to operate things by trial and error and from a few of my friends who have BMWs. But no one knows how to turn off the nav in mid route. There are sometimes I get turned around and just need to get back to the freeway, so I'll just hit the home destination. Once I'm on the freeway I can find my way around. But try as I might, I can't find a way to turn off or cancel the routing until I make it to my home. That means if I have to make other stops on my way home I have to listen to that voice telling me that I need to make a legal U-turn. I've searched all over the iDrive and can't find anything, my friends can't find anything. Even on Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson who was testing an M5 couldn't turn off the nav. Even if I shut the car off for a few minutes it picks up right where it left off when I turn it back on.

Help me, that female voice can drive me to do unthinkable things, aaauuuugggghhhh!!!

The arrow with the dot.

I'll have to try that.

Thanks, you've save countless lives, (and me sleeping on the couch).

Not sure if you can turn off the navigation part once it has started, buy can most certainly turn off the voice

just click the speaker symbol to toggle the voice of the navigation system.

press the voice command and SCREAM OUT "STOP GUIDANCE." Or go to navi screen and click on the address and it will give u the option. Use the voice command. It's great and can do everything! I tried track 5 and it goes to track 5! I'm gonna try some other things in the future like when I'm on cruise control, i'll say faster. LOL

->0 Turns off the active navigation route.

"Speaker" Turns off the voice guidance, but the nav route is still on (but without sound).

Go back to the Nav. menu screen, and click on the address again.
Then there will be an option to stop the guidance.

I know about the volume, but not the guidance route. Nice to know... I will give this one a try. Thanks!

Took me a while to figure this out too. Both suggestions above are accurate.
