I can't seem to make an MP3 CD work on my car. Does anyone have any tips or guidelines as how to make it? My car recently got an iDrive software update (Metallic colors, as opposed to old Brownish color, and also has perspective view) so I'm fairly sure it has MP3 capability. By the way I have a Mac and I've tried burning an "MP3 CD" through iTunes and again through Disk Utility and none of those CDs worked on my car. I even put the songs in a folder and burned the folder and it still didn't work. So any suggestions, guidelines, etc, would be helpful.

Read the following carefully and see if it helps:

Keep in mind that having the latest software does not mean that the MP3 functionality (retrofit) was performed on the car...

Seems from that pdf, if my car doesn't have NAV I won;t be able to get MP3 functionality. Correct?

Interesting. On a related topic, how does one gain access to the rest of the BMW service bulletins?

I've been trying to do this for the past 3 days now and after 4 burnt CD's a couple of changes, it finally works. Something to note is that it is not necessary to have navigation to play the mP3 cd, but the cd cannot be put into the cd changer casette in the glove box. It has to be played in the player below your AC/Heating controls, in dash, but not in your navigation dvd slot. So to summarize a long process short, put all your favorite songs into a folder on your desktop and then just drag and drop all of them at once (Ctrl+A+Drag & Drop) into your Windows Media Player Burn List and your ready to go. Just hit the start burn button and it should prepare your CD in the right format with the right settings and it plays perfectly through the idrive with folder names, artist names etc.
