What about the lights????? That is huge...
now $1,800 isn't bad is it? I mean the portable ones are between $700-1200 and this one is in dash... How does this one add up to one of those? I had a factory on on my 03 Lincoln LS and you could talk to it, like "I'm hungry" and it would show restraunts and I could say "Italian Food" and it would show Italian food places in my area... pretty cool.. but it didn't show the sun and moon like what I have seen on pic's from the bmw one....

$700 - $1200 i dont think thats correct, you can buy a navman 520 in the uk for ?150 thats only $260ish
I have to go in June to BMW to get new sticker and have my 2 front windows looked at because I have a hard time getting them to go up on the first time they keep auto. going down, so I emailed my service guy and also asked him about the retrofit we will see...
So what is so good about the BMW one... come on guys

THe only good about BMW nav is integration. Other than that you'll wonder why i-Drive is too sloooow, and you'll have to said WTF at least once.
Tomtom is going to release 510 and 910 4" model which sound very good. Go to tomtom.com and see.

Wonder if Garmin and Tom Tom will have one with the video out then you can use TVwithNAV's video input and intergrate an AWESOME NAv system into the iDrive screen... kinda like my530i's setup.

Chaps
I have discovered that my Tom Tom sits neatly next to the idrive screen, gets a good signal and if you are running on the rechargeable battery there are no wires. Even if I need power I use the rear power outlets and the wire runs alongside the transmission tunnel so its not too messy.
Here in the UK company car tax is based on the list price of the vehicle with options so if you went for media pack @ ?2200 it would costing you in tax every month, you're own sat nav would pay for itself in just over 12 months. PLUS you don't have to buy the update disc from BMW.
Just my opinion but I think this works really well.
