Can I use something like Carly or BimmerCode (Expert mode) to code a new module I’ve replaced in my new to me 2010 E60 or do I need an actual computer/cable and the software for that?
I added a ‘new’ MULF2 to my car because my old one was completely corroded… it has the matching part numbers so it worked as soon as I plugged it in (BT/AUX came back) but my phone (iPhone 13 Pro max) isn’t recognized by the USB… people have told me that the mismatch is because my MULF2 needs further coding… is that true? If so, what do I need to do?
thanks

I let you know on your other post the parameters of why you would need to code the new MULF 2. Every car is not equipped with the same options so when you buy a used module things may likely need coding prior to using it.
I personally do not use apps to code anything on these cars but if you are going to use anything it would be BIMMERGEEKS Protool. Any other app you risk damage.
Hope this helps in what you were asking. I believe I'm the only coder on here so you may not get any other responses. You need to invest in a 75a car charger, laptop, ISTA and BMW tools software if you think you are going to become a DIYer. It will save you a headache in the long run. Yes it's expensive up front but it will save you a lot of money down the road if you plan on keeping a 10+ year old BMW.
I just gave you the best advise you will get on any forum. Do with it as you will.

@Dark Vader Or you can pay someone. I needed my modules updated, and I could have DIY'd it, but the price of buying all of the equipment and configuring it all and learning curve, I just paid the guy and was done.

I'm in MD. You don't need ISTA to do what you're trying to do. You need to install Mikes easy BMW tools (I think that's what it's called) and factory code the module with NCSEXPERT and that's it.

thanks… I haven’t found a reliable/safe source to downloaded Mikes tools, do you have a suggestion?
