I just test drove an M5 with ventilated comfort seats with active bolstering. Great car and it convinced me that I want a 550. However, the active bolstering seats were great. If I order the ventilated comfort seats on my 550 can I / will I / get the active bolstering feature? TIA

In Germany this is possible.

I assume you're in the US? (Please put a location in your profile, that helps answering country spec. questions, thx.).
I am not sure about the US. But I don't think that's possible in the US.

Great point, just took care of that... Yes US. If it is not available that would be a big disappointment.

Just curious, what was it about the M5 that makes you want to get a 550?

It was more car than I needed...if that makes sense. I have a 97 911 (993) Cab and a '01 Boxster S, so my sports car needs are satisfied. The E60 will be more of a family car, so the 550 is a better fit.

Are the parts only available in Germany?

My guess is you can physically install the M5 seats, but you will need some extra electronics that controls the active side bolsters. In the M5, there are buttons on the center console next to the PDC and DSC buttons that control this, so you'll need to install some electronic components that the non-M5 E60 doesn't have.

Control units, buttons, wiring... A lot of work and a lot of stuff to do. PLUS: You'd need to buy the stuff here and have it shipped. That's a huge package... expensive shipping...
