I run the General Exclaim UHP's on my 19" 166 reps and have nothing but positive comments about them. i just use my car to commute to and from with the occasional spirited drive though.

I also have the General Exclaim UHP's on my Z4 and they've been great.

Most will likely tell you that you need to run higher end tires but I've been very happy with these.
I have heard quite a few horror stories about reps and their quality (or lack there of), my boy just trashed one or two of his reps thanks to a errant pothole. Personally, I'd stick with OEM, they are probably a little more well engineered

Running over a pothole will damage your wheel, no matter its replica or forged. You just have to do research on the company that makes the wheels and their quality.

Just to throw something different out there...I have TOYO T1R's and they are great. They are very quiet and handle well. I been on the highway in bad rain storms a few times since I've had them on and they work great in wet conditions as well. They are just a few dollars more in price to the Generals, but definitely worth the extra dollars! I'm very happy about my purchase!

Thanks guys for all the advice so far, I think I really want the ET17 so I will stick with the 275s. What about the TPMS, did anyone add these to their new wheels or just turn off the system in the iDrive?

Thanks again,
Brian

Brian,

You cannot turn off the TPMS in the iDrive, and the dealership will not do this for you either...safety and liability reasons. I suggest you get TPMS or you will staring at the warning indicator for the rest of your days with this car. I saw you are selling your old 124's, so the option of using the old ones is out. Personally, easier to buy everything at once, with tires, TPMS mounted, balanced and ready to install.

I don't think Garry mounts tires for us, but I'd highly recommend you buy the TPMS for the new rims. Tirerack sells them as well for around $200, so if you get your tires there, get them too. I was told they don't use OEM ones, but who cares? They work just fine. I had a set from them on my old 530xi.

What's the difference between the M5 166 and the offsets?

Finally, after nearly a year of looking, I am ordering the 166s From Garry of Newport on Monday. I am unsure what tires to put on. I have been looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Bridgestone RE960 Pole Position A/S. What do you recommend? Those that switched out, did you do the TPMs as well?

I am interested in the ET17 that was talked about in the MikeBuzzsaw group buy last month, if anyone has info on those sizes.

By the way I have the 2007 550i Sport Package.

Thanks,
Brian

If you can pick them up, buy the tires at Tire Rack and have them shipped to Gary to mount on your car. I did that with my winter wheels and tires.
