Get General UHP's for your wheels. 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. Good luck.

Garry is the man! Very satisfied with the overall transactions.

Just tell him the wheel size and he will give you the tire size.

I was looking at the 245/35/19 and 275/30/19, but I was hoping that I could get a little bit wider tire. I would rather have the M6 offsets and no spacers than the M5 offset and need a spacer to push them out.

Thanks,

If you can find 285's (for a reasonable price) I'd go with them -- my 275's look a little narrow on the wheels. I'd also go with the M6 offset over the M5 offset and spacers given the choice. With spacers I effectively have a 18mm offset and wider tires would fit fine -- should be OK with the 17mm M6 offset also.

I know a lot of people here love the General tires (and I would have them if they had not been backordered) and since you are looking at all season tires to start with they would probably be fine. If you ever plan on going to the track I would stay away from them (or probably any all season tire). I did a driving school yesterday and my buddy had almost new General Exclaims on an E46 330i ZHP and they didn't handle well at all. He was really disappointed (he picked up this car when his M3 lease ended and is saving up for a new M3 next spring). For what they cost I have been happy with how my Kumho's have done in 2 trips to the track now, but for street only driving the Generals are a better value and probably have less road noise. (and of course you can't go wrong with Pilot Sports! -- great tires just not cheap).

I run the General Exclaim UHP's on my 19" 166 reps and have nothing but positive comments about them. i just use my car to commute to and from with the occasional spirited drive though.

I also have the General Exclaim UHP's on my Z4 and they've been great.

Most will likely tell you that you need to run higher end tires but I've been very happy with these.

Falken Fk452. Not too expensive, good tread life, and quiet. =)

Finally, after nearly a year of looking, I am ordering the 166s From Garry of Newport on Monday. I am unsure what tires to put on. I have been looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Bridgestone RE960 Pole Position A/S. What do you recommend? Those that switched out, did you do the TPMs as well?

I am interested in the ET17 that was talked about in the MikeBuzzsaw group buy last month, if anyone has info on those sizes.

By the way I have the 2007 550i Sport Package.

MY opinion, go for the 166's from Garry (BMW of Newport) WITH the ET12/ET17 offset (M6 setup) and as for rubber: General Exclaim UHP's (245/35/19, 275/30/19), summer, sport tires. I got that setup maybe a month ago and they look so sharp, so cool, SOOOO cool!
Thanks,
Brian

Um...ET17 is about the max that folks want to run with this car. 275's on an ET17 will work, but it SHOULD put you at the very limit, without extra room outward. The M6 offsets at ET 17 with a 285 will push the rubber another 5mm outward, and I am pretty certain you'd be rubbing at this point.

Why risk it? If go with the M5 offsets and you won't have to worry or wonder. You can throw on a 5mm spacer if you want, but you may find you won't need it. Either way, you are covered.
