Ok, so yesterday morning when I was heading to school my A/C turned on randomly by itself. I thought that maybe I had accidentally turned the dials, so I just ignored it and turned it off. But then when I was coming home from school my A/C just started to randomly turn on by itself at random time intervals. I first thought it was a random combination's of my driving habits. So I tried turning my blinkers on, braking, accelerating, changing tracks/volume, but I couldn't figure out why it kept randomly turning on.
Has anybody had this problem? It's getting pretty annoying. The whole car is actually starting to annoy me. I'm also getting some weird idling problems as well. The car just starts shaking violently when I'm stopped at a red light (holding brakes, still in D) and when I'm sitting in the car in P waiting to leave. But I read that this could be due to injectors, fuel pump, or spark plugs correct?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I haven't set any climate settings other than when you turn the car on. I set that to "low."
Also, I've had the car since October of 03' and this has never happened. Why all of a sudden? I've driven when it was colder outside before.

i've had it happen to me when i first bought my car. the a/c would turn on randomly, no real rhyme or reason. it would just start up whenever it wanted, i thought it was when i went over something bumpy or hit a rough patch in the road, but that wasn't the case. it was pretty much hit or miss when i took it into the dealership as they couldn't reproduce it. it wasn't until i could turn on the A/C/blower fan, just by touching any part of the "metallic dials". when i say touch, i could barely brush the dial, not turn it, and the fans would turn on. they ended up replacing the climate controller and haven't had an issue since. good luck.

Had the same issue a while back and there was also a thread about this last week, don't remeber if it was on this site. Anyhow had the same thing happened to med a year or so ago, the dealer kept on saying cannot duplicate the problem. I just got mad one day and had the Mechanic go on a drive and it turned out to be the on/off KNOB was messed up. It seems to be a common issue, thye should have a recall for this. Had the thing replaced under warranty. Do keep in mind they have to replace the whole module(on/off knob, auto climate, temp dials) as it's all integrated, you cannot just replace one knob and with labor it would be $1000  (not a typo)I have also read other thread mentioning the need for replacement of the whole unit and the high cost. Good Luck.
mine does this all the time when I leave the temp knobs on the colder temps. It will keep doing it until I turn the temp knobs warmer, then turn the system off. Works every time, usually have to set them above 72 or so if I remember correctly and it will stay off
I had this problem but squirted Servisol (switch cleaner) into the Auto switch and this seems to have solved the problem. I am driving up to Yorkshire next week, 300 miles (not much by US standards) but I didn't relish the idea of keep hitting the auto switch to put the A/C back on again every few minutes.
