Good to know that you got it fixed. It turned out being the compressor in the end.

You are probably loosing vacuum because of the manifold. I had that happen when I first started changing out compressors. Did you put dye in just in case for the future issues if there are any?

Put it in the 528i compressor which was exactly the same.

Boom

I pulled a vacuum on it on it and it did the very same. Lost -30psi to zero in less then 15mins. But it took the Freon no problem and started cooling right away.

I will I’ll keep you posted on if it holds a charge, and I’m going to double check the gagues on another car with vacuum.

Thank you you for all your help. When I get settled after this I will put up a post with everything I learned.
Good show! Let's hope that there isn't a leak. If there is one, then that might also explain why the original compressor became defective. If no leak, then compressor just went bad on its own.

What do you mean by manifold ?

I didn't bother, I have the tool to put it in later if needed. I was feeling confident we had it sorted.

I think he means the manifold on your gauges might not be sealed 100%. no matter, youre blowing ice cold and thats what counts

The tool you use to fill the compressor is called a/c manifold gauge set. I was referring to the connector ends of the hoses

I was thinking it was the gauges, I'm from Ireland we don't call them that.

We call them the "where the fuck is the A/C thing a me bobs,
the what!
The yokes to test the A/C,
A thermometer.
No ya knob, ah man what do ya call them, the Fucking things to check if it's working.
The gagues
Yeah yeah the pressure gauges, isn't that what I said. Fuk man your as slow as a wet week, where are they?
I've no idea.
After all that, your as useful as tits on a nun.
Leave it, sure wtf would he be doing with A/C anyway, it's Ireland, not Florida.
Ahh your right, I'm done so, ya wanna go for a pint.
I thought you'd never ask.

Actually conversation happens in Irish garages everyday.
