A/C to cold?

My Ride: 2007 525I Titangrau II
I live in Florida so for me to be complaining about this the A/C has to be REALLY cold. My AC is so powerful that when I have it on auto and the thermostat set at 80 I am FREEZING! When I drive to work on the highway I have to turn off the AC button and just use the vent or I freeze. Now I would much rather have this problem than the other way around but this hardly seems normal. Has anyone else seen this? Is my thermostat broken?
