Been lurking for a long time. Finally registered and of course, my first post is going to be a newbie, "help me" post...

Ordering or picking up (if avail in my area) a 530 this week! Very excited. But I read some other posts wher I might get a great deal on an 05 545. I found a 545 with nearly every option I am looking to get. It lists for $62K.

I have two questions?

1) With about 3k down, do you guys have ANY idea on what I would be looking to pay monthly on a 36 or 42 month lease with 15k miles a year?

2) Is the payment going to be substantially higher that I should just forget the 545 and stick with the 530, which comes out to about 53k? If I go this route, ANY idea on a payment for the same lease terms?

Sorry, I know this stuff gets asked all the time, but I have never leased. Be gentle.

Thanks

Kyle

Hey Kyle,

If the 545i has an MSRP of $62k, I'd estimate you can buy it for around $59k or so. I guess it has every option but the Sport Package? In any case, a 36-month lease, 15k miles/year, with $3k upfront (which would be the basic inception fees plus around $1,000 in cap-cost reduction), you should be able to get your monthly payment around $750/month pretty easily. That's assuming the promotional money factor of 0.0010 and residual of 57% are still applicable. Actually, that $1,000 additional you're putting up front should bring the payment down in the $730 range even.

Hard to justify the 530 at almost the same payment

Catul,

I've crunched the numbers and your absolutely correct. I'm still debating getting a 545i now or ED 550 later. I think your right on all the numbers, including getting $3K off MSRP. The drop in the residual to 57% hurts, but the money down offsets this nicely. But, the 545 are getting rare. The money factor @ .001 is the key number.

Hi Kyle,

See if you can get a deal on that 545i. $2.5K over invoice or $3K under MSRP should be a no brainer. You can shoot for $1,000 to $1,500 over invoice, if you want an expectional deal. The main thing is the money factor being low at .001. As Catul pointed out, putting some extra down helps and $750 per month is available. Just don't put too much down. You can get the residual up too by going with 12K or 10K miles per year. Refer to the recent residual schedule, available on this site.

The 545 is a great machine and super performance. Just make sure it running well.

Almost anyone should be able to get a 545i right now for no more than $2k over invoice, and I think around $1600-$1800 is pretty doable. Couple that with the great money factor, and a lease of a 545i makes a lot of sense!

The 550i will be a great car, for sure, but I doubt it's $150-$200/month better - and that's what I figure it'll cost to lease one, considering they won't be discounted much, if at all, and the lease programs will be using standard rates.

If one can find the right 545i now, optioned as wanted and in a likeable color combination, just do it! That's what I did, and it was hard since I wanted SMG too; picked mine up just a few days ago
