Bus. nav "route list"

How long does the nav. need to compute the entire route list of a some 1000km trip?
When I try to pull up the route list, it only shows directions for 50-60km, which isn't much help when attempting to plan a trip. Am I simply not waiting long enough, or is the nav. unable to calculate the entire route in detail?
