Hey guys earlier today I was driving on the highway and all of the sudden I smelled like burning oil or something burning. I have no idea if it was the car but I stuck my head out the window and it didnt smell burn. Has this happened before to anyone? Should I be worried?

I tried the "search" in the forum but couldn't find anything.

I had a similar issue where I would smell something just as I stepped out of he car. Turned out to be a plastic bag melting on the exhaust.

Well it was actually coming from the inside of the car.

It can still happen if the wind happened to trap a plastic bag near any of the HVAC tubing. Not as likely in our cars since theres so much under car shielding. but it is possible. Check under the car for plastic bags and if it doesn't happen again don't worry about it. It could have been another car in front of you that you smelled when you had your A/C on as well.

Even if you have a clutch or tranny going you, you will not smell it in your car. People behind you will. Just a matter of physics.
