Hi!

I have left the right side cupholder open (with a bottle of water in it), because we had a passenger with us i the car today.

When she left the car, she broke the cupholder because its still where open

It's difficult to change the cupholder at the right side ? Cost ??

The picture below shows the cupholder, before it broke.

Man, same think happened to me last week! My friend was getting in the car and did not notice that cup holder was open, so he knocked it with his knee. The bottom part that holds bottles broke off. I called my service adviser next day and they replaced it under warranty. Apparently they had a lot of complaint about cup holders not being very durable. For some reason they replaced both, driver and passenger side.

The passenger side cup holder cost $75.00 in US (my SA told me). I think they are very easy to replace, as it took them 10 minutes to replace both.

Serge.

My drivers cupholder fell to bits and I had a new one fitted under warranty. If yours has broken off completely then not much can be done but if pieces have just dropped off then you may get a claim.

Merv the Derv;

It's not totally broken, but I can't use it..
I will see what my dealer says, warranty or not - it will be replaced in two days

Should be covered under warranty. Somethings never change. Like BMW's cupholders.........

There are two phillips head screws under black stickers in the front of the cupholder. Remove the screws and the entire cupholder assembly pulls out. It shouldn't take the dealer more than 60 seconds to replace the cupholder, or you can do it yourself.

Thanks guys for the information

This site rocks!

I will call my dealer tommorow, and ask them about warranty, and order a new one.

I can change it my self

Love this car, even if there are a few things which dosen't match BMW's quality,
But after 41.000 km in a year it's the best car we ever have had

My BMW trips the next few days:

500 KM today
700 KM tommorow
500 KM thursday
500 KM sunday
- all those kilometers :'(

Same here, about a two months after I got the car my friend broke it on his way out. I expected to have to pay for it (I considered it user error) and was pleasantly surprised to find it covered under warranty - and fixed in one day (once they had the parts in).
