You could always calculate your fuel mileage the old fashioned way, fill it up, set the trip odometer, run it down, fill it up, divide miles/gallon.

E60525d; The 5 is made to be driven. Most of us go out of our way to put miles on the car....certainly the first year. And certainly to get past break-in ASAP.

Hi
I'm afraid you'll have to disregard all figures till you have done approx 4000 to 5000 miles!

Please don't worry about the economy . I drive my 530 as hard as I can ( without upsetting other road users!) I get 34mpg around Berkshire and easily 38 mpg on a run ( often wth amazing average speeds). OBC seems pretty accurate when compared to brim to brim fillings and GPS speed/distance checks.

Enjoy the car!
Precisely the same with me stu.

Not sure how long it takes to run it in.
Last car was 328ci and that took 1,000 miles I think.
On 525d I remember on first tank it returned 35 or less and I was pretty disappointed - was expecting 40. Since that first tank or so, I get 36 to 37 and on a long (100mile+) journey normally get 40mpg.
If drive around town all the time I still get worst case 34.
Had the car since mid-may and done over 6k now, mostly motorway.
Used the little oil packet you get with the car last week (after 5k) and put about half of it in. I expect that will be it until first service now.

I'm very pleased with the fuel economy of my car. It only has 600 km's on the odo and on the way home on the motorway my average milage was 7,5l/100km
