braking issues
Can anyone help please.
At low speeds like 5mph or less it is very hard to engage the brake. I have to press down very hard for it to actually stop. otherwise the car creeps foward.
But when driving at regular speeds the brakes seem to be working fine. Its just when I want to come to a complete stop it is very hard to press the brake pedal.
I didnt get any errors stating that the brake fluid is low and the brakes were all changed about 5k ago.
Anyone have any idea what may be going on?

This sounds exactly like the brake recall affecting the V-8 e60s (545, 550). It involves replacing the vacuum line between vacuum pump and master cylinder. It does cover problems with the pump per se, but does fix the master cylinder if oil is discovered there--I may have this part reversed, mine did not have any additional problems, just replaced the vacuum line. Take it to BMW for the recall work. Covered.

Just had this on mine. It was't covered as oil was not getting into the pump. I've had to replace the vacuum booster (got the strong pedal feeling back ($1000) and proper braking action) and the vacuum pump ($575) as it was leaking oil. Good luck with yours, but I'd say the booster is the culprit.

Is there a way to tell if my car qualifies for the brake recall? VIN?
I am having problems with my brakes. Braking at low speeds is very rough and jerky. Feels like my caliber is stuck and I need to press down harder to come to a full stop. But braking at normal speed is very smooth.
