Yeah, I agree with you.
I'm not going to do anything until i-drive tells me I only have a few thousand miles left, then I'll look at sourcing the disks and pads myself. Was hoping they would say, 'Yeah, squeaking brakes, well known issue and we'll sort it under warranty for you'.
Wishfull thinking eh?

If they had said 'look, you've still got a fair few miles left until they need doing, but you will need disks aswell', then maybe. But to say they need changing now, with 9000miles left on i-drive, seems like they're just after my dosh.

But certainly I'm not going to rush out and get it done now.
I guess I'm just a little dissapointed my dealership has tried to take me for a mug.

Thanks for your input anyway.
If you can be bothered get an independent report done and if they are clearly trying to rip you off ring them to ask for a resolution before going to Trading Standards...

I have squeaky brakes as well, althought I thought taking it in for that would be overkill. But I guess I should becuase I just purchased it as CPO.

Don't forget that there was a brake sensor recall in the past which caused a squeaking noise until the sensors were replaced. Searching the forum should give you a some additional information...

Just to chime in on this discussion, I too recently had my car in for the microfilter replacement. At that time my iDrive said I had 6,000 miles left on the rear brakes and the SA called me to say they needed to be replaced and they were taking care of it. Here in the U.S. we get the maintenance covered for four years so it was them paying for it. It is a bit concerning that the sensor indicated that the brakes were OK yet the dealer said they needed replacing. Does no give me a lot of confidence in the system...

Top banana! New pads for 'free'
Me too, although it had to go in twice, the first time they replaced the sensors which made the sqeek worse and the second time new pads all round

One question though, my idrive menu said I had 18,000 miles left on the front pads (i've done 39,000 miles) and now with new pads it only says 25,000 miles left so how accurate are the sensors????? What mileage do most people get out of their pads???

My SA did my fronts last time the car was in.

It's far worse now. I think the new ones are squealing and the rears never stopped. I want to get noticed cruising around town, but not because people are looking to see what the hell is making all that noise!!!

my car had the microfilters changed a couple weeks back. the technician who always works on my car (i was with him in the car since i knew him) went to my SA and told him about my brakes. he said that people with only 5,000 miles and squeaking brakes would even have the rotors and pads replaced and i have the same problem with 23,000 miles. the week after, the fronts were replaced. i still have some squeaking but much less than before.
