Brake Problem?

My Ride: 2004 525i M Sport Automatic, M Sports Package, Bi-Xenons, Sunroof, Hot Climate Version, Navigation+TV, 18" Double Spoke 135M Alloys with Runflats, Anthracite Headliner, M Leather Steering Wheel. Dear Fellow Forummers,
My car has just had this weird problem recently, when I hit the brakes hard to get the vehicle to stop, there is a loud thud from the front left side of the car, besides this, the car will jerk a little. When I release the brakes from a standstill to allow the car to move a little/creep, the car will jerk slightly. Any ideas on what the problem may be? There are no warnings on the i-Drive Screen nor the Service Menu.
