Default brake pedal won't depress, wont start

Have a 2007 525xi that wont start. Battery was replaced month ago. Seems like the brake pedal is tight won't move like it is supposed to when you push the start. Lights, stereo, windows all seem fine. But no noise from engine at all when trying to start it. Also getting a AWD DSC Malfunction warning. Have tried to jump it to no avail. Had a slight problem a couple of weeks ago where the steering wheel and brake seemed out of sequence when trying to start. I had to try it a couple of times before it started and now just won't at all. Any help is much appreciated.

your brake vacuum booster may be losing vacuum while engine is off, hence the hard pedal.
push the pedal harder, and try.
is the gear selector in park all the way?

I had this same issue, and I had to replace the starter.

Turned out to be the starter. Dealer wanted 1500.00 for parts and labor. Taking it to someone who specializes in foreign for less than half. Thanks for all your help.
