I'm curious to know what BRAND of brake pads you guys use and whether there is any particular brand that leaves less dust. Also, what brake wear sensors do you use?
I'm located in Sydney, Australia. Until now I've been letting the dealer do the servicing, but I just paid over $350 for an oil service. The dealer said front brakes will be due soon. I'm guessing they're going to charge me a similar price and I have to factor in the inconvenience of starting work late and finishing early that day. iDrive reports 5000km left on the front pads. Front rotors were done at around 60,000km, which was the last time front pads were done.
Finally, do all brands of brakes wear roughly the same? The dealer has me scared with the warning that the wrong choice in pads could wear the rotors too much or be too soft and need replacing sooner. How much truth is in that comment?
Cheers

Virgil, this has been discussed extensively on this board. Do a keyword search on "brake pads" and "rotors".
The short answer is that most prefer OEM pads, but they create the most brake dust. Ceramic pads are an option, and they perform well, but there are tradeoffs.
