Thanks for your reply. This thing is really confusing. A lot of promises when buying the car - but then when you want to realize these things - NOTHING!

Once again - NO INFO from BMW

BMW 530

Just caught up with your feedback from Behams and just replied to your e mail. I will contact Benham tomorrow and get them to bring up the service history on my car to confirm the activation was actually carried out. If it was not done they will get some serious grief we are thier biggest corporate customer by a mile!! At the time they showed me the e mails from Bracknell re BFD and TMC but I confess I did not stop to read them.

If you let me know who your dealer and contact is I will try and get Benhams to contact them.

Regards

SPEUK,

Just replied your email. Thanks in advance for contacting Benhams.
My dealer is Rydale Cardiff and the technician contact is Huw. Hopefully the dealers will talk to each other and get this BFD sorted out. I'll contact my dealer in a few days to see if any progress has been made.

As we can see form this forum, there are a lot of people out there looking for an answer to this BFD activation.

Thanks again.

This sounds cobblers to me also and I don't even know what that means. I have a Sept. 2003 production 545i, it is a US auto. Do I have the Brake Force Display? Do I need some updated software to make it work? I am reluctant to have my kids or wife follow my in the e34 while I slam on the brakes. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks for all the helpful information.

In the US the BFD has been legal for a while. In Europe it became legal beginning of this year.
All E60's should have it in the software, but the EU cars need to have it activated, when built before December, when the EU finally decided to allow BFD.
US cars SHOULD have it activated allready. But since no one has seen it at work so far, we don't know for sure...

I expect LEDs to come standard on e60s 2 or 3 years down the road.

On a car like this I expected them to be a standard from the very beginning!
Well - let's wait and see...

Benham's have just e mailed me to confirm that BFD has been activated on my vehicle. I have e mailed you full text of their response which basically says Rydale Cardiff need to send a "puma" to BMW with vehicle details to establish it is possible on your car.
