Brake bleeding
While attempting to bleed my brakes (changing brake fluid) I can't seem to get the cap from Bavarian Auto to seal. It is the adapter with the clamp's that tighten down under the master cyclinder. With an 2009 528i, It says that I would need this adapter because the regular cap with the kit would not fit. They seem to be correct on that one but the adapter cap will not seal. Maybe it wasn't tight enough, but I am not going to put a hole in the master cyclinder. For future use, is there another screw-on cap that will fit correctly? For now my daughter will be pumping the brakes. Thanks!

Do you have the black rubber gasket inside the screw cap that came with the bleeder adapter? If that has fallen out, there will be no seal.

It's not the screw-on type of cap. I have that one with the kit but it doesn't fit my BMW. You have to buy the adapter kit which is a clamp tighten down type. It clamps to the bottom of the reservoir. Perhaps it wasn't tight enough but I wasn't going to screw up my reservoir. I did it the old fashion way! Two person team! Father and daughter and I paid her $10 to pump the brakes. I was just wondering if anyone found another cap that screws on for the 2009 528i???

The pressure bleeding is much preferable to pumping the brake pedal. I really hate using the brake pedal method as it causes the master cylinder rubber seals to travel father in the master cylinder bore than normal. If you have ever taken apart or rebuilt a master cylinder you can really see that the normal travel distance of the seals is very very smooth and the rest of the bore is noticeably not as smooth. I worry that this extra seal travel does minor damage to the seal since it travels father during the brake pumping method.
