Like I said in the other thread.....
535i tuned, good to go
550i stock, good to go
I know cars with 4banger engines cranking out over 350 horses that can whip a stock V8!

No other qualifiers, below is the exact and complete quote:
"Model Highlights
Overview Comfort & Convenience Entertainment Performance & Efficiency Safety & Security
Arrival of the fittest.
Power has always been a dominant gene, and the 535i Sedan was born with it. Encased in a sculpted body, its
inline 6-cylinder with twin-turbos and 300-hp deliver the unprecedented performance and fuel efficiency that make
it the fastest 5 Series ever."
Not sure what, maybe its just marketing. BMW hit a gold mine with the 535 as many people are spending a lot of money on the aftermarket, something most 550 owners don't do. (Other than the members of this board). Most people I know (Not on this board) with a 550 don't have the sport package and chose it because it was a cheaper 7 Series.
The reason some people compare a 550 with a Chipped 535 is because the software download is so cheap, easy and you get such a huge boost in performance. I agree if you had to spend $8000 and a month rebuilding a 535 engine to get it faster than a 550 then I don't think you would see the comparisons so much or being so relavent.

Also remember the N54 hp & lb/ft are published low... so they are a lot closer than you think. Dyno graphs prove it.
