The part number won't help at a dealer. I don't think they can order it since it's not DOT approved. I have the DOT one and the EU version and they're different. The DOT version won't fit in the tool tray. The one from LeatherZ is the OE part and fits nice without the blue case.

I have ordered euro part #s since at least 1998.
A friendly working relationship with your parts counter person (and BMWCCA card for discount if applicable) is a huge plus since they have to change from US to Euro query in the search, usually at least one eye-roll.

They can order the part whether or not it is DOT approved. FWIW, T?V approval makes our DOT seem like a junior high science fair experiment.

I sometimes order through BMW Mobile Tradition (where I order many parts for vintage BMW motorcycle work).
The $ sucks though, so be aware, but you get the parts.

Thanks for the offers. I found the triangle from LeatherZ.com
It fits perfect in the tool tray.

Is there a source for buying the original European warning triangle that fits into the emergency kit on the E60 trunk lid? I know it is not to US spec. but would like it nonetheless. I have not found it on ebay.
From the last BMW 5 series retrofit catalogueI found the following part numbers for the OEM warning triangle:

Cars till 04/04 No. 71 60 1 095 535
Cars from 04/04 No. 71 60 6 770 096

Hope it helps.
