Hey everyone,

My service engine light just came on in my car. It's time for regularly scheduled service and I do not want to take it to BMW. This is my first beemer, and I didn't buy it from BMW and it is out of warranty. I knew maintenance on these cars were expensive, but half of the price is BMW's ridiculous hourly labor rate.

Does anyone have any experience with independent shops in NY? I am about 20 minutes outside in NYC (Rockland County). Any one ever just take theirs to a regular shop and have them do whatever the scheduled maintenance is? My car has 91,000 and I'm not sure exactly what the service that needs to be done is, but I do know that I don't want to take it to a dealer lol.

Any and all help/opinions is appreciated.

Check the Idrive for what it wants.. It might be oilchange or just airfilter change which you can reset by yourself..

When you are in head menu press your ''UFO'' button down and then look around for the service and you finally are on this menu



There you can see if there is some normal thing going on..
