Did you receive a recall notice? I haven't received a notice yet, maybe my VIN is not affected?

I got the letter a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't state the list of vehicles just by vin. It does say what the OP states, that they aren't ready yet and I'll get another letter when they are.

BMW cut the BS.

I doubt the part number changed vrs the 04-05

& why not the 1 series as it shares many parts with the 3 series and since you had to replace the mat on my 1er.

I have had my 2004 530i for 3 years. I also have the Passenger restraint system fault. Did not receive any notice from BMW about a recall. It looks like they would have to fix such a critical safety issue that has occurred on so many vehicles, regardless of the warranty or recall period.

I agree, imagine the law suits when an accident happens and the airbag doesn't deploy injuring the passenger.

Are they really hoping people are good drivers, their just being cheap so they can say that they tried by only limiting the recall to specific years.

Hoping that, that would be reasonable effort enough to save them from liability, which should not be allowed as a matter of public policy, we are people, human beings and our safety should reign supreme to their meager efforts to retain profits received for a faulty product.

MY SRS went off and I had a buddy remove the CEL, bad move, even though the sensor obviously doesn't not work as the light does not go off when someone is sitting in the seat, then the dealership refused to acknowledge the issue and said there was nothing they can do even though it was obviously not functioning!!!

Its a shame how people are happy being robots, and not taking the time to thing for themselves!

I implore you all to think for yourselves in your everyday lives!

Do not take what is customary for what is righteous!

Signed an disgruntled customer( FYI: I still love my BMW)

I called BMW Customer Relations directly and was able to confirm that my car's VIN was on their recall list. Then I called the stealership and said I need appointment for this work. They had the car for a day and then called to say that they have to order the replacement part in. Bunch of morons.... Eventually it did get replaced.

Here are some numbers for you all to use:
BMW USA 1-800-525-7417
BMW Canada 1800-567-2671

Have your VIN handy and ask about the front passenger seat sensor mat recall. Good luck!

Owners Overview - Recall - BMW North America

^can also try there with the last 7 of your VIN. Not sure if it is including the seat mat recall yet.

edit: by the way, the recall affects cars BUILT from 12/2005-9/2006. You can find this out using the last 7 of your VIN at realoem.com
